Obituary of Edward J. Scherfling

Edward J. Scherfling, 84, of Baldwinsville and Big Moose died Thursday. Born in Marshfield, Wis., he graduated from Minoa High School and Oxford Institute. He retired in 1982 as a production manager at Rollway Bearing Co. after 40 years. He was a charter member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Baldwinsville, where he was a Sunday school teacher and choir member, and Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in North Syracuse. He was a former member and treasurer of Belgium-Cold Springs Fire Department. A son, Kenneth, died in 1964. Survivors: His wife of 55 years, the former Bernice R. Gauthier; three daughters, Linda Mayers and Karen Anders, both of Baldwinsville, and Tamala Smith of Rome; a son, Robert of Baldwinsville; two sisters, Halda Bader of Mattydale and Freida Dunn of Phoenix; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Services: 2 p.m. Monday in St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Burial, Greenlawn Memorial Park. Calling hours 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville.
