I recently spoke with my Aunt Ila on her birthday. We had a wonderful conversation! I wanted to take the opportunity to celebrate and honor her many wonderful qualities and let her know that I felt that way about her. We talked about everything from what a wonderful business woman she was to her last moments with her mom as Granny spoke the name of Jesus and went into His arms. I trust and believe that Ila had that same wonderful meeting with the Lord. We talked about her beloved Tara, and what a good little companion she was, and how Ila adored her. Aunt Ila recognized that Tara was so smart and seemed to know everything Ila was thinking. I shared with Ila many wonderful remembrances of fun times we had together, whether it was a dinner out or getting tickets to the Fair or sharing a special occasion like graduation or her wedding. Aunt Ila has been such a big part of my whole life. Every time we left Syracuse for North Carolina, it was Ila's house we drove away from. I will always remember that it was my Aunt Ila standing in the doorway waving good-bye with her precious toy poodle Jacqueshow we all cried as we drove away and how excited and happy we were every time we got back together. That is why with a good-bye such as this, it makes it clear how much I will miss my Aunt Ila. But I will be happy and excited once again when we all get reunited. I love you Aunt Ila and, until that day, I will miss you terribly.

Aunt Ila seemed eternally youthful. I have so many wonderful memories of times we've spent together. Special memories of summers spent with her in my youth, her visits to our home down south, her incredible spaghetti sauce and salads and her wonderful laugh. We had many, many laughs. I treasure those times and will miss her greatly.
Life is but a stopping place; a pause in what's to be, A resting place along the road to sweet eternity. We all have different journeys, different paths along the way, We all were meant to learn some things, but never meant to stay. Our destination is a place, far greater than we know, For some the journey is quicker, for some the journey is slow. And when the journey finally ends, we'll claim a great reward, And find an everlasting peace together with the Lord. (Author unknown)
I love you Aunt Ila. Your Great-Niece, Kellie

I shall miss Aunt Ila with all my heart. I have a million sweet memories of our times together and our many conversations about our past, our present and our future. We looked forward to getting together this summer for a trip to Skaneateles Lake. Aunt Ila was there when I came into this world and we always had that special connection. We had our challenges which were often overcome with laughter. We cherished that relationship. We were able to share our faith. I am thankful to have benefitted from the same Godly heritage that Aunt Ila had. I am also thankful that God's Word says that we will be accompanied by angels when we draw our last breath. I was reminded of this song by Kirk Tolley called "Serenaded By Angels":
She went to sleep one night
Never here to awake again
But everything was all right
Between her and him
So she awoke in Heaven's courtyard
Free from pain within
The angels gathered round her
And took her by the hand
Serenaded by angels, up to the throne
Serenaded by angels, finally at home
Surrounded by praises, to the King
Welcome to Paradise, the angels did sing.
Welcome to Paradise, the angels did sing.
Serenaded by angels
I grieve and I am sad. I rejoice that Aunt Ila and I know the same God and God's Word says we will see each other again. This is my comfort.

I have known Ila my entire life and I have never met a more loving, devoted, beautiful soul. My parents and Ila,and her husband Morley, were such close friends. She was like an aunt to me. I truly hope she is met at the gates of heaven by all her loving family and friends. I am sure my mom and dad would say to her, " Let's put on a pot of coffee and reminisce."
