I taught with Helen for many years right across the hall. She was a dear soul with a heart of gold and always held the students' needs and interests above everything. If there was a fundraising basketball game - Helen was in it, if a student needed a sponsor for bowling with teachers -Helen was always available. And there was always a treat or two to be found in her room after school. She worked with students that did not believe in themselves and served on every committee. There was a big hole in our building when Helen left and I am sure there will be huge holes left in many hearts but remembering how she filled so many hearts with joy and inspired so many students should help bring some peace to those hearts. There will never be another Helen.

Kris, Peter, Mary Kay, and family,
We are so very sorry for your loss. I smile each time I think of your mom and dad..and what wonderful people they were.
Your mom was a superb hostess; every guest became her friend. I have such great memories of her at your home, at school, and at church. She made an exceptionally positive impact on my life in its most formative years. I thank her for that.
Cherish those memories; hold them dear.
Know that you are in our prayers.

Dear Kristine, MaryKatherine and family,
It is with great sadness I read on the passing of Helen. It was such a honor and pleasure to take care of her the time that I did when I was at Loretto. You as a family loved her so and she adored you all and was so proud of all of you. She is a light and an angel that will be truly missed but now she is a beautiful angel watching over all of us and smiling down. With deepest sympathies for all of you during this time. Much Love, Beth

Mrs. Decker was an amazing teacher and prepared so many of us for the "big" high school ahead of us. My thoughts are with her family during this time and hope your memories and knowing she made a difference in so many other's lives too bring you peace.

I met Helen about 3 years ago when my Mom moved in to Cunningham. She was warm, friendly and always happy to greet me when I got off the elevator. She loved being a teacher and she made my Mom feel welcome. I can see from the other posts that this was her always - a sweet woman. We will miss her smile but glad we had the chance to meet.

Aunt Helen gave the best advice and always with humor and wit! She made me laugh constantly. I could tell how much she loved us all and cared so much about what was going on in our lives. Also, she always had way more energy than I did, that's for sure! Rest in peace, Aunt Helen. I know you are watching over your family and friends always.
Love,
Jenny, Travis, Charles and Jacob

Dear Kris, Peter, and Mary Kay,
When I think of your mom I always think of the kindness she always expressed towards me and this extends to your dad also. You mother no matter where I saw her would go out of her way to speak and wonder how all my kids were doing. We used to laugh because in latter years we seemed to always run into each other at the post office. Your mom was dressed to the tee without a hair out of place. She will be greatly missed and was thought of so fondly by many. May you know my thoughts and prayers are with your entire family at this time.

Mrs. Decker was my English teacher at Cherry St. School in Phoenix, N.Y. I vividly remember her passion for her students and her love of teaching. To this day, I remember the names of her children because she so often told stories about them to us in class and used them as good examples when teaching us life lessons. She was always impeccably dressed and her make-up perfect . I am a teacher and I follow her example of having high expectations for my students.

Aunt Helen always had a smile on her face. She loved family, friends, students and all the people she met over the years. I will always remember that when she saw me she would greet me "Kathy Darling" followed by hugs and kisses, and then she would say "what can I get for you to eat?" She will be missed. May she rest in peace and watch over us.

Aunt Helen was always smiling, positive and full of energy. The last of a generation for sure. I have many fond memories of growing up and having Aunt Helen, Uncle Bill, Peter, Krissy and Mary Kay visiting us or the times we went to B Ville to visit. She will be missed. Paul, Diane, Kim & Mike
