Russell H. Edsall, 95, a 25-year resident of Baldwinsville passed away peacefully on Friday, November 14, 2014, in Sandy Spring, Maryland where he currently resided. He was born in Yonkers, NY and lived in the Syracuse area for over 60 years. As a youth, Russ grew up in Glens Falls, NY and could be found playing football, swimming in Lake George or playing golf with his dad and brother. After moving downstate with his family, Russ graduated from Davis High School in Mount Vernon, NY in 1938. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1941, became a Staff Sergeant and served seven years which include 14 bases in the US and two years in Iceland during World War II. After he was discharged in 1945, Russ lived in Mount Vernon, NY, Long Island and Skaneateles with his wife and three children from his first marriage. Russ had two children from his second marriage while residing in the Syracuse area. For over 30 years, he was employed by three insurance companies: The Home Insurance Company, Upstate Factors and Midtown Insurance. Russ was a founding member of the Eastwood Golf League and a member of the Syracuse American Legion. He was predeceased by his father Barton Schyler Edsall; brother Barton Schyler Garratt Edsall, Jr.; mother Florence (Russell) Edsall; ex-wife Marion (Maloney) Edsall; wife Sharon (Houser) Edsall; son Scott Barton Edsall Survivors: his son, Gary Edsall; daughter Deborah (Edsall) Kornell; daughter Tracy (Edsall) Swartz; daughter Leslie Edsall and many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Services: a memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2014, at 3 pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Baldwinsville at 64 Oswego Street, immediately followed by a reception at Mohegan Manor. Contributions: in lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please donate to Montgomery Hospice.
