Robert J. Ortlieb, 71, of Baldwinsville passed away peacefully Sunday, April 6, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was born in Atlantic City, was a graduate of Ilion High School and SUNY Delhi. Bob founded the R.J. Ortlieb Construction Co., Inc. in 1985. He was a member and former board member of the Syracuse Builders Exchange. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s church in Baldwinsville and also of St. Bernadette’s in Constantia. He was also a 4th degree Knight of Columbus Assembly # 777 Council #5082. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Robert H. and Lucia Ortlieb and two brothers, Thomas J. and James M. Ortlieb. Survivors: his wife of 50 years, Erminia; his children, Renee (Eric) Ames of Constantia, Robert J. (Charulata) Ortlieb of Staten Island and Joseph M. Ortlieb of New York city; his grandchildren, Quinn, Claire, Fiona and Hailey; a brother, William (Judy) Ortlieb of Charlotte, NC; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. The family wishes to extend gratitude to Dr. Scalzo and the staff at HOA and to the many friends who supported Bob with their companionship, loyal friendship and love. Bob enjoyed spending much of his free time at the cottage on Oneida Lake fishing and on the golf course. Calling hours are 4-8pm Thrursday, April 10, 2014, at the Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Friday, April 11, 2014, in St. Mary’s Church. Burial in Riverview Cemetery, Baldwinsville.
