Ruth S. Fowler, 94, of Baldwinsville died Monday, March 10, 2014, at Syracuse Home, Meigs Rd. Baldwinsville. She was born in Wellsboro, PA, to George & Laura Stevens. Graduated from Wellsboro High School, was Miss Wellsboro in the annual Laurel contest, and came to Baldwinsville in 1939 after marrying Owen W. Fowler of Morris, PA. She was active in the First United Methodist Church of Baldwinsville where she arranged wedding receptions in the church hall for many years, United Methodist Women, Female Charitable Society, Scout Leader, along with enjoying family and friends as a home maker. Many years she spent time with her husband at a cottage in Woodgate, NY. After her husband's passing, she was employed part-time at Dey Bros. in Tri-County Mall, Baldwinsville, NY. Everyone described her as a "people person", - kind, compassionate and loving. She was predeceased by her husband, Owen W. Fowler in 1976 and son, Owen T. Fowler in 2003, and a brother, Robert Stevens. Survivors: her daughter, Conne F. Hudson and husband John; grandson, Gregory John Hudson and wife, Cathy; and a great-grandson, Scott Owen Hudson; a sister, Edith Shinners; several nieces and nephews. Services: 12:00pm Saturday, March 15, 2014, at the Falardeau Funeral Home, Baldwinsville with burial to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Calling hours are 4:00 - 7:00pm Friday, March 14, 2014, at the funeral home, 93 Downer Street. Contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 1595 Elmwood Ave., Rochester, NY 14620, First United Methodist Church, 17 W. Genesee St., Baldwinsville, NY 13027 or Female Charitable Society, 10 River St., Baldwinsville, NY 13027.
