Doug ,or "Mohawk" as we called him, was my friend in cyber space. We were mwmbers of the Steve Saunders forums for Goldwings. I cried with him over the loss of his bride, and he helped me with the loss of a dear friend, and with the news my wife had cancer. He was always straight up, and kind. The highways are a little more lonely now he is with his wife, and I'll miss him. God Bless him and his family. Salute,my friend! You made it home!!! Love, Jim and Barb

Mike,
I am trying to get through this as I was with you Tuesday night, 28 May 2013 and for some reason I didn't want to leave you. I was your last girlfriend and though we didn't know each other very long, we had some pretty strong feelings for each other. I enjoyed every moment with you and we had a lot of fun, Heid's hot dog dates and B'ville Diner dates and went out to get your new Gold Wing in Waterville, NY. WE spent a lot of quality time together. You wanted me to move in with you and out of respect for the recent loss of your wife, Susie, I didn't want to rush moving in and rushing our relationship. I will cherish all that you did for me and my Mom, she just adored you. You have been such a great influence in my time back here in CNY and I wouldn't trade those days for anything. I miss you so much, your hugs, your sweet gentle kisses, your smile and grin, your soft hands on my back, you always made me laugh and you said I just "tickled" you when I would say "Bye" at night, you said it sounded like an echo. You were always there for me and everyone you met. You touched a lot of folks and you sure touched my heart and I will cherish every memory I hold so close to my heart.
My heart goes out to your beautiful daughter, Erin and your son, Nicholas... they both look so much like you in the eyes, I saw you in their eyes.
My heart also goes out to your loving family who I have met the last week and they miss you so much, especially "fishlips", you would call your sisters.
I know you are re-united with your Susie, I know you wanted so much to be with her and now you can enjoy your ride in heaven with her.
I love you, Douglas Michael West and glad I got to tell you that and you told me you loved me too and you were grinning huge.
Rest in peace my dear Indian Santa Claus and angel... Until we meet again...

Ok now what am I supposed to do every morning. Either you called and woke me up or you texted me full well knowing I will grab my phone to see it was important. I already miss that. The time you came down to visit and stayed with me. We always managed to have something good to say to each other. When Trash80, Commodor64, and 128 computers were the only game in town. Bulletin Boards and dial ups using Modems over the phone line was the only way to get out in the world. When we would get into some heavy talks about UFO's and MUFON, little Grays. Then to find out why my Dad never entered into any of our discussions. Those where the days. When all of my family passed you became my family and brother. Thank you for always always being there and knowing just how to make me smile. I miss that. I miss you now and will forever. I will see you and Suzie again. See you then Bro. Peter B. (Pharaoh)

Uncle Mike-
I still feel like this is an ongoing nightmare that I wish every morning I'll eventually wake up from. I'm deeply saddened by your loss. I'll miss your face, your smile, your laugh, your jokes, I'll even miss your brass comments that you make just for shock value... because that's just who you are. Your with Susie and Grandma now and that's the ONLY thing that is comforting about this entire situation. Do me a favor and use your "injinuity" and leave me signs once in awhile and look down on us from Heaven. My one regret is not telling you more that I love you.. you were never one for that mushy stuff.. so Ill end with .. " Later"

To most "sequestration" is a often used term on the news and doesn't really affect them. To us who support the US military as civilian contractors it translates into no flights out from the base for situations such as this. So while I cannot be there in person I will be there in spirit and offer my sincerest sympathies to all his friends over the years. While our family grows smaller as we age I am hopeful that those who can gather cherish each other and wrap each other in warmth and kindness while they all heal from this tragic loss. No one person's pain is greater than the others - remember that.
With Love,
Lynn West-Puhle
