Obituary of Burt Z. Kasson

Burt Z. Kasson, II, 64 of Baldwinsville, beloved husband of Susan (Sheedy) Kasson, died Monday morning, October 15, 2012 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston surrounded by his family. Born in Gloversville, NY, he was the son of the late John M. and Betty (Gordon) Kasson. He was raised and educated in Gloversville and attended Sterling Preparatory School and was a graduate of Bishop Burke High School. He continued his education graduating from Nichols College in Massachusetts with a bachelor’s degree in business in 1970. He was a resident of Baldwinsville for over thirty years and along with his family enjoyed spending time every summer at Canada Lake in the Southern Adirondack Region of New York. Mr. Kasson had been employed in the Nuclear Technology field with Stone and Webster Company and most recently he had been employed with the former Niagara Mohawk Company and National Grid until the time of his retirement. A loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and brother, Burt was a true car enthusiast. He was presently serving on the Board of the Central New York Street Rod Association. Talented with his hands, Burt completely restored a 1963 Buick Electra Convertible back to its original factory condition, and was currently in the process of restoring a 1966 Pontiac GTO. He was known for his attention to detail and master craftsmanship in the restoration process. He will be truly missed by all his family, friends and fellow car club enthusiasts. In addition to his loving wife of thirty eight years, Burt is survived by his sons, Timothy Kasson of Baldwinsville, NY, Stephen Kasson and his wife Johana of Danvers, MA and Neil Kasson of Baldwinsville, NY, his grandson, Nathan Kasson of Danvers and another grandchild on the way, his sister, Sheila Sammons of Johnstown, NY, his brother, John Kasson and his wife Jan of Tempe, AZ and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours in the Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer Street, Baldwinsville, NY, Friday October 19, 2012 from 4 to 8pm. His funeral service will be held graveside in the Ferndale Cemetery, 545 North Perry Street, Johnstown, NY 12095, Saturday at 2pm. Burt has been donating monthly to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for over 30 years, thus in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Burt’s memory to his favorite charity; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
