Charles W. Hummell, 92, of Baldwinsville died Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Crouse Hospital. He was born in Shandaken, NY the son of Ward and Edna Hummell. He attended local schools and Colgate University before joining the US Army. During WW II he served as an Infantry Company Commander with the 26th (Yankee) Division in the European Theater. Following military service he graduated from Lincoln Chiropractic College in Indianapolis and practiced in Manchester, NH for 10 years. He then moved to Kingston, NY and was employed by the Oceanographic Systems Division of Schlumberger Corp. He joined V.W.R. Scientific and after 23 years retired in 1978. He then became a part time consultant for Transcat of Rochester for 2 years. After his retirement he was active as a volunteer at Syracuse Home in Baldwinsville and served on the Boards of Directors of Syracuse Home Association, Syracuse Home Foundation and McHarrie Towne. He was a communicant of St. Augustines Church in Baldwinsville and a member of Beaver Meadows Golf Club in Phoenix, NY since 1970.
Survivors: his wife Priscilla; a sister and brotherin-law Margaret and Harold Bell of Poughkeepsie, NY; nephews Alan E. Bell of Poughkeepsie, David K. Bell of Portland, OR; grandnieces Avery and Marisa Bell of Potland.
Services: A Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at St. Augustines Church, OBrien Road, Baldwinsville. Burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Manchester, NH. Calling hours are 4-7pm Monday, July 2, 2012 at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville, NY.
