To the Chapin Family
I met Bill nearly 70 years ago. We both worked for GE in Boston and lived at a rooming house (mansion !) on Beacon Street. Bill helped me learn the ropes of getting around in Boston, a true friend. Recently I saw Bill at the GE retirees lunches and always a pleasure to have a friendly greeting and a chance to enjoy Bill's humor. You have my sympathy for your loss.

Steve and the Chapin Family,
I know this is a time of incredible grief and sorrow for all of you. But somehow, when the sadness subsides a bit, you will be filled with those wonderful memories of the good times you shared together and the certain knowledge that the love he had for you, and you for him, is eternal.
May God's peace and grace be with you during this difficult time.
Alan

I feel very fortunate to have known your Father, such a gentle, generous & kind man.
When I visited him at Syracuse Home in December he still had that quick wit & sweet nature. He looked at me & said "who are you", I said "it's Sue" & he replyed "well you have gotten younger". I sure left with a smile on my face that day! He will be greatly missed & my sympathies go out to your family.

Dear Sally, Greg, Steve and families,
Lots of memories growing up living next door to the Chapin family. Your dad and i kept in touch over the last few years as he was so attentive and kind to our mother when she was taken ill. He went and visited her at Syracuse Home and connected with me on the phone routinely right up until she passed away. I talked to him last when he was at the Assisted Living Facility but i was not aware whe went to Syracuse Home. My brothers all were so taken with his kindness and thoughtfulness and i will never forget it either. He will be greatly missed! He definitly went above and beyond thats for sure. I am so very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time......

We have lost a great man and a true gentleman. I have known Bill as a friend and co-worker at GE for well over 30 years. We have had many Friday lunches and fun golf matches. It is sad he never got around to writing his autobiography. He had so much to tell. I visited him about 2 weeks before he passed away and I was struck by how sharp his mind was even at 90 + years.
He will truly be missed by many.
