Marco S. Grosso, 22, of Gainesville, FL, passed away Monday, November 7, 2011. He was born in Syracuse and was a graduate of Phoenix High School, where he was a member of both the wrestling and football teams. Marco was a US Marine Corps veteran of the Afghanistan War. He served two tours and received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion, the Gainesville VFW Post 2811 and worked security for Brinks in Gainesville. He was pre-deceased by his grandfathers, Leon F. Grosso in 1997 and Wayne A. Reed in 2008. Survivors: his mother, Kathleen J. Hawker (Robert Glumpe) of Phoenix and father Leon R. Grosso (Tracy Baldwin) of Syracuse; brother, Rocco (Jennifer) of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Kayla Grosso of Syracuse; maternal grandmother, Sheila Reed of Baldwinsville; paternal grandmother, Elaine (Doug) Kemme of Jamesville; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Services are 10:30am Friday, November 18, 2011 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 3127 James St., Syracuse. Burial, St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dewitt. Calling hours are 4-7pm Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
