Obituary of Arthur G. Helmbold

Arthur G. Helmbold, Jr., 80, of Baldwinsville passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at Crouse Hospital. He was born in Syracuse and lived in Baldwinsville most of his life. Art was the Building Inspector and Zoning Officer for the Town of Lysander for over 20 years and was a charter member of the Baldwinsville Rotary Club. He was a Fire Commissioner for the Belgium Cold Springs Fire Department for over 20 years. His hobby for over 50 years was restoring and repairing antique clocks. Spending time with his family was one of Art’s greatest passions, together with collecting and driving English sports cars. Always a true believer that “dog was man’s best friend”, he truly loved his terriers. Arthur was predeceased by his sister Georgia M. Anklin in 2010. Survivors: his wife of 57 years, Nancy A. Helmbold; his son, Arthur G. “Chip” Helmbold III and his daughter and son-in-law Susan A. and Peter Sanborn all of Baldwinsville; two sisters, Geraldine Johnston of Pittsford and Jacqueline (Kenneth) Balch of Liverpool; several nieces and nephews.
