Obituary of Peter A. Fiorini

Peter Anthony Fiorini Sr., 84, of Baldwinsville, died peacefully at home Monday, October 4, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Veroli, Italy, Peter moved to Fulton, NY when he was eight years old and later moved to B’ville where he resided for most of his life. A veteran of WWII, Peter was the only sailor to commission and decommission the USS Alaska Battle Cruiser. In 2003 he received his honorary veteran high school diploma alongside his granddaughter, Joelle, from C. W. Baker High School. Peter was a long time communicant of St. Mary’s Parish where he was active as a CYO leader, Eucharistic Minister, Alter Server Instructor and chef for many of the church dinners. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Peter was the district manager of the Syracuse branch of the Salerno Cookie Company for 26 years. Peter enjoyed watching his sons and grandchildren play sports, he was an avid cook and baker and was best known as “Santa”. He was pre-deceased by Edie, his wife of 58 years. They are survived by their 5 children, John (Brenda), David (Julie), Tom (Sally) all of Maine and Peter Jr. (Lisa) of Baldwinsville; a daughter, Maria (Cliff) Knickerbocker of Brewerton, his brothers, Archie (Bianca) of Fulton, Albert (Diane) of Peach Tree City, GA and Anthony (Jill) of Anaheim, CA; his sister-in-law Margaret (George) Beckwith of Fulton; 12 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews. Services: 8:30am Saturday, October 9, 2010, at Falardeau Funeral Home, Baldwinsville and 9:00am at St. Mary's Church. Burial in St. Mary´s Cemetery, Fulton.
