Herman C. Kaestle, 88, of Baldwinsville, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2010 with his loving family by his side. He was born in Meßstetten, Germany, moved to the United States when he was 2 years old and has lived in the Baldwinsville area since 1950. He was a Vegetable Farmer all of his life and was renowned at the Regional Market for his Asparagus and Rhubarb. He retired from Pass & Seymour in Solvay and continued farming well into his 80’s. Herman was a past member of the Onondaga County Vegetable Growers Association. Survivors: his wife of 66 years, Pauline Schmid Kaestle daughters, Nancy J. (Ron) Chauncey of Blossvale, NY, Sharon A. (Martin) Lachut of Fulton and Tammy K. (Bill) Bednarski of Marcellus; son Robert H. (Mary) Kaestle of Baldwinsville; sister, Mildred Stallknecht of N. Syracuse; 8 grandchildren, Todd, Chad, Amanda, Allyson, Andrea, Michael, Ryan and Annie; 5 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services: 2:00 pm Saturday, August 21, 2010 at Falardeau Funeral Home, Baldwinsville. Burial, Lysander Cemetery, Lysander. Calling hours are 6-9 pm Friday, August 20, 2010 at the funeral home, 93 Downer St. In lieu of Flowers: Make A Wish Foundation of CNY or the Leukemia And Lymphoma Society Central NY Chapter.
