Joseph A. Cimitile, 82, of Baldwinsville, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2009. He was born in the Bronx and lived in Baldwinsville for 52 years. He was a Navy veteran of WWII and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He received his B.S. Degree in Education from SUNY Oswego State College in 1957 and taught for the Baldwinsville Central School District for 33 years before retiring in 1990. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Baldwinsville where he was an usher and taught religious education. He belonged to the JC’s, the Kiwanis Club, and was on the Board of Directors at Canton Woods Senior Center in Baldwinsville where he volunteered for several years. Joseph was pre-deceased by his parents Charles & Sarah Cimitile and four siblings. Survivors: his wife of 54 years, Gloria G.; two daughters, Carole J. Cimitile, Ph.D. of Alexandria, VA and Maria C. Cimitile, Ph.D. of Grand Rapids, MI; his son, Christopher J. (Barbara) and their son Alexander R. Cimitile of Yardley, PA; three sisters, Rose Zimmatore of Clinton, MA, Ann Slingsby of New City, NY and Angela Paton of Bergenfield, NJ; and several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am Thursday, November 19, 2009 at St. Mary’s Church, Baldwinsville. Calling hours are 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville. Joseph requested that his body be given as a gift for the advancement of medical education and research at the SUNY Medical College in Syracuse.
