James Earl McArdell, 79, of Marietta, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2009 at Crouse Hospital. He was born in Syracuse, was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran during the Korean War and belonged to the Baldwinsville VFW Post 153. He was a truck driver for over 30 years and also worked as an electrician. Jim was an avid golfer and card player and also raced stock cars in the 50’s and 60’s. He was known to the racing community as “Big Jim”. He was pre-deceased by his wife Barbara, parents Earl & Elizabeth, sons Earl & Tom, sister Beverly and brother Gale. Survivors: his sons, James (Darlene) McArdell of Cato, Gary (Janet) McArdell of Earlton, NY, Alan (Valerie) Coon of Baldwinsville and Douglas Coon of Marietta; step-daughter, Karen (Tom) Dragano of Fort Collins, CO; two sisters, Margaret Falter of Plainville, Marie Bates of Baldwinsville; three brothers, William of Phoenix, John of Baldwinsville and Walter of Port St. Lucie, FL; 9 grandchildren, James, Jody, Shawn, Eric, Janel, Amber, Matthew, Alyssa and Ridge; 7 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Falardeau Funeral Home, Baldwinsville. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Baldwinsville. Calling hours are 4-7pm Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at the funeral home, 93 Downer St. Contributions: Marcellus Area Volunteer Emergency Services, P.O. Box 203, Marcellus, NY 13108.
