Charles E. “Papa” Taylor, 66, of Baldwinsville, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2009 at St. Josephs Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born in Syracuse, served in the US Coast Guard for 4 years and moved to Baldwinsville in 1972. He retired from Niagara Mohawk after 34 years. After retiring, he also enjoyed working for Tri-State Auction and the Cleveland Plant and Flower Company. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Baldwinsville and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #5083. Papa loved his old cars, tailgates, clambakes, “talks” in the garage and most of all, being surrounded by his family. Survivors: his wife of 37 years, the former Nancy J. Callaway; 9 children, Jayne (Chip) Lloyd of King of Prussia, PA, Margaret Dobbins of Clay, NY, Bill O’Brien of LaFayette Hill, PA, Colleen (Paul) Metcalf of Baldwinsville, Becky (Scott) Gellert of Liverpool, Kimberly (Peter) Cass of Syracuse, Katie Taylor of Camillus, Kelly Taylor of Queens, NY and Sarah Taylor of Ashboro, NC; 6 brothers and sisters, Al (Kathie) Taylor of Bel Aire, Maryland, Ellie McGann of Scottsdale, AZ, Lucy (Fred) Tyminski of Marcellus, Kathy Shetler of Camillus, Joe (Mary Ann) of Washington, NJ and Eddie (Carole) Taylor of Camillus; 18 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services: 9:30am Saturday, August 1, 2009 at St. Mary’s Church, Baldwinsville. Burial, St. Mary’s Cemetery, Baldwinsville. Calling hours are 5-8pm Friday, July 31, 2009 at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville. Contributions: American Lung Association of CNY, 1620 Burnet Ave., Syracuse, NY 13206.
