Mary Lou (Nolan) Shaffner, 86, of Manlius died Monday, April 13, 2009. She was the widow of the late William R. Shaffner, who passed away in March of 1995. Born March 28, 1923 in Rome, NY, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret (Walsh) Nolan. She graduated from Rome Free Academy, Rome, NY and was a member of The United Service Organization during World War II. A long time resident of North Syracuse, she was employeed as a secretary by the North Syracuse Central School District for over 17 years. She later lived in Baldwinsville, for nineteen years and was staying with her daughter in Clarks Summit, PA at the time of her passing. Mary Lou was a member of St. Augustine’s Church in Baldwinsville, where she was a member of the Bethany Group. In addition, she was a charter member and past president of the Bishop Curley Columbiettes of North Syracuse. Mary Lou was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to everyone. Survivors: a daughter; Mary O’Donnell, husband Kevin of Clarks Summit, PA and their children, Timothy, Brian and his wife Marissa, Michael and Colleen, all of PA; a son, Thomas W. Shaffner, wife Jeanne of Fayetteville, NY and his son Erik and wife Denise of Parkland, FL; two brothers, Robert Nolan of Rome, NY and T. Edward Nolan of Fulton, NY; four great-grandchildren, Ainsley, Molly, Austin and Alyssa; several nieces and nephews. Services 10:00am Saturday, April 18, 2009, at St. Augustine’s Church, Baldwinsville. Burial, St. Mary's Cemetery, Baldwinsville. Calling hours are 4-7pm Friday, April 17, 2009, at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville. Contributions: St. Augustine’s Church, 7333 O’Brien Rd., Badwinsville, NY
