Obituary of C. Alice Johnstone

Alice Johnstone, 88, of Jamesville passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2009 peacefully in the company of her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and a loyal friend. She was born in Inwood, Long Island and lived on Long Island for most of her life. She graduated from East Rockaway High School and Long Island College Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as an R.N. for many years at South Nassau Communities Hospital, Oceanside, NY. Most recently she resided at the Nottingham in Jamesville, NY. She enjoyed music and singing all of her life and especially enjoyed being a member of The “Nottingales” Chorus and The Nottingham Performing Arts Group. Alice was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Fayetteville, NY. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. William Campbell Johnstone in 1976. Survivors: her daughter, Mary Alice (Gordon) Tall of Baldwinsville; her son, Jack Johnstone of Los Angeles, CA.; grandchildren, Gregory Tall, Christine Tall Jalal, Flora Johnstone, Allison Tall Loi, and Amy Johnstone; five great grandchildren, Campbell, Carter and Brody Loi, Arden Jalal and Braden Tall. Services: 10:00am Friday, March 27, 2009 at Trinity Episcopal Church, Fayetteville. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Englewood, N.J. There will be a memorial service at The Nottingham at a later date. Calling hours are 5-7pm Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St. Contributions: In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Syracuse Home Association 7740 Meigs Rd., Baldwinsville, NY 13027 or Trinity Episcopal Church 106 Chapel St., Fayetteville, NY, 13066.
