Carmella Millie Gianquitti, 93, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2009 surrounded by her family at Menorah Park, DeWitt. Millie was one of six born to her parents, Constantino and Anna Ianuzzi, who emigrated from Italy. She spent most of her life in Syracuse. Millie was a housewife for many years, and later was employed by Julius Resnick as a tailor for over 20 years. She was an avid reader and cook. Millie enjoyed traveling abroad and throughout the US. She will be remembered for her generosity, perseverance, and her strong spirit.
Surviving: her children, Lorraine (Andreo) Pompo, George (Rena) Gianquitti Jr., and Mary Ann Smith, as well as two siblings, Mary (John) Johnson and Daniel (Katherine) Ianuzzi. Millie was also blessed with 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her husband, George Gianquitti Sr., and her siblings, Frank, Anthony, and Adelina.
Services: 11:00am Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at Word of Life Assembly of God, 12 E. Onieda St., Baldwinsville. Burial, Riverview Cemetery, Baldwinsville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Menorah Park / Jewish Home of CNY: 4101 E. Genesee St. DeWitt, NY 13214.
