Dear Cathy and Family;
I recently found out about the death of my childhood buddy Andy yesterday. I feel terrible about it and we have been friends since the third grade. Andy's Dad owned a luncheonette called the "Huddle" in Utica dn for many years it was the place for teens to gather and can be compared to Arnold's of Happy Days Fame. Jim and his wife Rose Andy's parents were great to the kids and the place was a haven for teens and especialy Yankee Fans. Andy was a real laid back and kind kid who walked to school with me just about everyday. We were in the same classes for 4-6 grade at Albany Street School and he used to let me copy off of him and even helped me with my homework. During High School we went our different ways with Andy going to Proctor in East Utica and I to Notre Dame. Any was an excellent student and I am not surprised at all of his accomplichments as a husband, father and businessman. I lost track of Andy and would see his brother Joe at Utica College and he would update me on what Andy and the entire family was doing.
About 15 years ago I had this man approach me at the Carrier Dome at an SU Hoops game and low and behold I did not know who he was and when he said Andy Damiano it was like the best thing that could have happened to me in a long while.
We recalled the great days as kids and all the crazy stuff we did and I could not believe how thin and in shape he was. Anyways, I would see him all of the time and we would talk and talk.
It is with great sadness that I write this however I know deep down in my heart that he is with his Mom and Dad and Larry in heaven.
I have an empty feeling now and all I can say is that I know someday that we will all be together in another life and I hope and pray that Andy will be there to play with and to be my friend..

Dear Cathy,
I don't know if you remember my family and I, but we were neighbors when you lived on Palantine Ave. We lived on Hawthorne Ave. and your kids would come over to play in our yard. I was also president of the City of Newburgh Little League; Russ played for a few years, and I got to know Andy and respect him through our many conversations. I always respected Andy because he never stooped to pettiness in a city where politics can be very petty and personal. Any always focused on the larger picture which was the common good of the community. He always displayed integrity, balance and just good old-fashioned common sense. He was always fair and honest. This is how we will remember him.
Peace and blessings to you and your family.

Dear Cathy and Family;
Andy was a kind and caring man, that I only had the priviledge of working with for a year. He was a man who cared deeply for his family, and the people of Cortland. He was a giant among men, and respected everyone's views, and opinions, even though he may not have agreed with them. He will be truly missed.

Rosey,Ted and the Damiano family, Someone once sent this thought to me at the death of a very close family member and I loved it. It captures what I hope for you today - "Rather than mourn the absence of the flame, let us celebrate how BRIGHTLY it burned."
You are all in my thoughts, a member of your IRS family.
