Obituary of James C. Montague

James Clarence Montague, 71, of Baldwinsville, NY died Thursday, November 6, 2008, at his home. He was born July 5, 1937, the son of Clarence and Mildred (Shea) Montague. He lived in Baldwinsville until he graduated from the Baldwinsville Central School District in 1955. After graduation from high school he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served for four years. After leaving the Navy he moved with his wife and children to Liverpool, NY where he lived for about 40 years before returning to Baldwinsville. He received a degree in Electrical Engineering Power Option. He was employed by Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. for 37 years starting as a meter reader and retired as Superintendent of transmission and distribution in Glens Falls, NY. He was a member of the Baldwinsville Moose Club, Liverpool Elks Lodge, past president and secretary for 15 years of the Baldwinsville Kiwanis Club, member of the Liverpool Volunteer Fire Dept. and underwater rescue team, and volunteered for Habitat for Humanity. He was predeceased by his first wife Joan Osbelt Montague. Survivors: his wife, the former Lynn Bilow; children, Cindy (Mark) Nappa, Maureen (Robert) Culican, James (Lee) Montague, and Colleen Carter; stepchildren, Carrie and Kevin Besaw; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, John P. (Jane) Montague, Sheila Montague, Jerry (Diane) Montague, and Denise (William) Durdel; two aunts, Catherine Rice and Mary Montague; a cousin, who was like a brother, John A. Salisbury; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services: 9:30am Monday, November 10, 2008, at Falardeau Funeral Home, Baldwinsville and 10:00am in St. Mary’s Church. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours are 4-7pm Sunday, November 9, 2008, at the funeral home, 93 Downer St. with an Elk’s service at 6:00pm.
