James Layou, 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 9, surrounded by his loving family. He was born and raised in Warners and was a resident of Baldwinsville for over 50 years. Jim was a graduate of West Genesee High School and completed trade school under the Carpenter's Union and was a long time employee of the Teamsters Local 12. He also worked for Great Northern Mall and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Jim met his wife of 54 years, Barbara, in Warners and they raised 3 sons. He was a devout Catholic and enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling in his retirement years. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Floyd and Dorothy Layou and sister, Joyce Kapelka. Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara Fuller Layou; sons, Michael, Thomas (Dana) and Nicholas Layou; grandchildren, Logan, Mackenzie, Mason, and Abby Layou; siblings, Carol (James) Turner, Patricia (Richard) Popov, and Joseph (Tammy) Layou; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Calling hours are 4-7 pm Friday, August 12 at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St, Baldwinsville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am Saturday, August 13 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 3494 Route 31, Baldwinsville. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Semper FI & America's Fund at www.thefund.org or St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.
