Obituary of John Leslie Conrad

John L. Conrad passed away suddenly on June 2, 2022, from Leukemia at the age of 93. He was born on August 16, 1928, in Canton, Ohio to Claire and Edward Conrad. John graduated from Timken Vocational High School and then went on to serve his country in the army. He received his B.A. from The University of Dayton; M.A. in engineering from Case Western Reserve, and 2-year degree in Mechanical Tech from New York University. John loved to travel and after the service he visited Africa and enjoyed skiing in the Swiss Alps. He came to the New York area in 1978 and worked successfully as a Mechanical Designer at Carlisle Compression, Welsh Medical Equipment and Corning Glassworks to name a few. In retirement John continued to be an avid birder and pursued his love of photography. He also volunteered at his church, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. John has been preceded in death by his parents and brothers Edward, Paul and David. He is survived by brother Douglas Conrad of Wakeman, Ohio, two nieces Anne Conrad & husband Steve Hegreness of Fairview, Texas and Barbara Conrad of Pittsburg, California. Step nephew, Rich Oster of Cambridge, Ohio and step niece, Jo Ann Bigelo, Greensboro, Georgia. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022, at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Baldwinsville, New York. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Baldwinsville. Friends may call Thursday evening from 5 to 7 pm at the Falardeau Funeral Home in Baldwinsville. In lieu of flowers, donate to a favorite charity or the Marianist's.
