Obituary of Debra Lee Stanton
Please share a memory of Debra to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mrs. Debra Lee (Sherrill) Stanton, age 66, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 26, 2021.
She is predeceased by her husband George C. Stanton (2013), her mother and father, Jessie Jo Sherrill (2000) and Edward A. Sherrill (2013), and her oldest brother Robbie A. Sherrill (2014).
Debra is survived by her beloved sister and brother-in-law, Kimberly and Tracy Mattice, her brother and sister-in-law, Jeffrey Sherrill and Jennifer Kerry, sister-in-law, Susan Sherrill, and brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Susan Stanton. Debra will also be lovingly remembered by her two children, Kelly Stanton (daughter) and Ryan Stanton (son), Adam Ludemann, as well as granddaughter, Hazel Ludemann.
Debra was born in Syracuse on December 5, 1955. Raised in the area, she graduated from Central Technical High School in
1972. From there, Debra attended Career Co School for Paraprofessionals, receiving a Dental Assistant certificate in the mid 70's. After marrying and starting a family, Debra also worked in the restaurant industry, enjoying the fast-paced atmosphere as a server and a manager at Danzer's and Mr. Steak. After the birth of her son, Debra enjoyed her time at home raising her children and the family dogs.
Throughout her life Debra was always surrounded by family and friends. She enjoyed being pool-side, or on the water, going to parties, reunions, holidays, and going out to dinner. She was always the life of a party- always smiling and dancing. Her immediate family spent many summers traveling and boating, ultimately finding their summers at home in the 1000 Islands. It was here that many family memories were made. Debra loved the sunshine, the wind in her hair, water skiing, and boat rides. Debra was also an avid flower gardener, and enjoyed music, dancing, reading, bowling and playing cards.
After the loss of her husband, George, in September 2013, Debra was fortunate enough to know the love of becoming a grandmother. Her only granddaughter, Hazel, born in 2014, was her strongest source of joy. The two lit up each other's lives- enjoying dancing and sleepovers whenever possible and forming a bond and making memories that will last forever.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Debra's calling hours held at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville, on Sunday, February 27, from 2 to 4 PM, with a short service beginning at 4 PM.
