Obituary of Patricia Nelson Berry

Please share a memory of Patricia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Patricia N. Berry (Corsette), 73, of Baldwinsville, passed peacefully in her home on January 31, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Ronald; children: Sarah Berry; Aaron Berry; Julie Collier (Michael); grandchildren: Madelyn and Carson Collier; and, Stella and Ethan Berry.

Patricia was born on March 30, 1948, the only child of Thomas and Thelma Corsette of Bernhards Bay, NY. She attended Paul V. Moore High School in Central Square, NY, and graduated from Hartwick College in 1970. She worked for four years as a social worker in Oswego County, and helped many local families through her work with children's services.

Patricia met Ronald in July, 1971 through mutual friends. They wed in August, 1972.

The focus of Patricia's married life was her family. She was known by friends and family alike as a talented cook and baker. Patricia enjoyed hosting gatherings at the family home.

Patricia was a dedicated and talented member of the Van Buren Elementary teaching staff in Baldwinsville. Initially, she worked with students with disabilities. Later, Patricia joined the reading room staff and helped innumerable children find their voices through reading and writing.

Patricia was an active community member, serving with organizations such as the Christmas Bureau, PTA, and Baldwinsville United Methodist Church. Always a supportive friend and neighbor, she delivered homemade meals, cards, and assistance when others needed a helping hand. After retirement, she continued mentoring children at local elementary schools.

Her most treasured role was as a grandmother to her four beloved grandchildren. From playgrounds and day trips to Disney World, and summers on Cape Cod, from attending their events and taking care of them, she was devoted, fun, and loving; her legacy will live on in them.

After retirement, she took advantage of being able to spend most of her time with her family, connecting with friends, and traveling, including trips to the west, New England, and the south. Patricia spent some of her free time exercising in groups at the gym, taking long walks and biking. She was proud of her ability to get in shape and remain active for herself and her family and grandchildren. Patricia loved the outdoors. She was happiest when spending time by the pool with her family, or tending her garden, or biking through beautiful Radisson.

In her final illness, Patricia was buoyed by the love of her family and all her friends who visited, sent cards, food, and gifts.

A memorial service celebrating Patricia's life will be held at the United Methodist Church of Baldwinsville on Sunday, February 6 at 2 p.m., Friends and family are welcome to join us for a reception with refreshments in the church dining room immediately following the memorial service.
