Robert D. Hastings, 86 of Syracuse passed away on December 28, 2021 at St. Camillus Health and Rehab Center. He was born in Cortland, NY, to the late Robert and Olive Hastings and lived in Central New York the majority of his life. Robert served in the US Marine Corps before beginning a career with Carrier Corp where he retired after 34 years. He enjoyed spending time playing Golf and Tennis and of course winning a game of pitch. He held a natural talent for music exemplified by the fact he taught himself to play his Lowery Millennium Organ by ear. In retirement, Robert enjoyed traveling the country and wintering in Florida with wife Mary Mil until her passing in 2020. Above all his interests and hobbies, Robert was a man whose family was his pride and joy. In addition to his parents and wife, Robert is predeceased by his children; Kathleen Hastings, and Debra Head, brothers; Donald and James Hastings, and sister Joanne Balstra. Surviving are his daughters; Lorraine Willoughby, Karen Dunn, brother; Gerald (Doreen) Hastings, 6 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville on Monday, January 3, from 3-5:30 pm, with a funeral service to follow at 5:30. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: National Museum of the Marine Corps, 18900 Jefferson Davis Hwy., Triangle, VA 22172
