September 25, 2021 Richard L. Fonda, 92, of Orlando, FL passed away on September 25, 2021 at the VA hospital in Orlando, FL. Dick, also known as "Shorty", grew up in Baldwinsville and was the son of Lewis Van Epps Fonda and Lura Martha Tallman. He graduated from Baldwinsville Central School and enlisted in the Marines in 1946. After proudly serving his country, he enrolled at Oswego State University completing a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Elementary Education. He then went on to Syracuse University for his master's degree in Education. Richard taught fifth grade at Phoenix Central School. Then he decided to apply for a real estate license and sold commercial real estate and also was a member of the Kiwanis club. He was a salesman for most of his life. Richard was predeceased by his two sisters, Jeannie and Dolores. He is survived by his two daughters- Sharon Perkins, of Camillus, NY and Kathy Fonda of Portsmouth, VA and a nephew, Shawn Coates, St. Petersburg, FL. He is also survived by four grandchildren- Allison (Andy), and Daniel Perkins, Jenny (Matthew) Rockow and Tonya Mixon. Family and friends may call from 10:00-11:00 AM on Friday, November 5 at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville. Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery.
