It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Robert "George" McGinn on April 25, 2021. George was born in Sudbury, Ontario to Harry and Mabel McGinn, the 4th of seven siblings, on November 3rd,1930. He was married to and survived by the love of his life, Lenore McGinn for 67 years. Above all George was a dedicated family man and most proud of his successful and productive children, Bob McGinn, (Barb) Wendy Merritt (John) Kelly Wilkinson (Bruce), Tracy Manfredi (Victor) (d), and grandchildren, Ryan Merritt(Jenny) Shannon Merritt , Brandon Merritt, (Danielle) Matthew Wilkinson (Marco) Heather Glarborg (Eric) Taylor Wilkinson (Alex), Justin McGinn, Kristen McGinn, and 3 great-grandchildren, Caroline and Isla Merritt, and Connor Merritt. Sibling to Arnold (d) (Verna) (d), Arthur (Edith), Isabell Neville (d), (Larry) (d), Hugh (Lois) (d) and Alice McClymont. George attended Sudbury Mining and Tech, followed by Michigan Tech University and received a degree in Geological Engineering and along with best friend Harry Taylor was co captain of the Hockey team. George was General Manager of Exploration for coal minerals, and President of Mobil Coal and Vice President of Mobil Mining and Minerals. He retired in 1992 after 37 years with Mobil Oil to spend time with his family. George spent the majority of his retirement years in Englewood, Colorado and then Baldwinsville, NY. George had an incredible life and will leave a hole in the hearts of those that loved him that will never heal. There are no calling hours. A celebration of life will be held at a future time.
