Obituary of Claude John Reith

Claude J. Reith, 87, passed away at home on Saturday, January 30. He was born in Syracuse to Claude and Ruth Reith and lived in the area most of his life. Claude served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1956. He went to work for New York Telephone in 1956 and retired after 39 years. He continued to teach pole climbing for several years after his retirement. Claude was a Baldwinsville Volunteer Firefighter for 62 years and was awarded the County Judges Medal for Valor. His hobbies included woodworking and the fire department. Claude is survived by his wife, Patricia Batorski Reith; daughters, Deborah (Stephen) Heller, Jennifer Paine, and Rebecca (Robert) Lambert; sons, Douglas (Kristin) Reith and David (Christine) Reith; his first wife, Ann Hart; sisters, Janalene Evans and Linda Bort; and 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Calling hours are 4-7 pm Friday, February 5 at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St, Baldwinsville. The Service will be private Saturday, February 6 with the burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Baldwinsville Fire Department or American Cancer Society.
