Obituary of Patricia L. Andersen

Patricia Andersen passed away peacefully on January 11, 2021. Predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Delmar Andersen, parents Carl and Edna Liabo, brother Leslie (Doris) Liabo, sisters Jean (Myron) Oxley and Darlene Bohling and brother-in-law Junior (Lila) Andersen. She is survived by sons Steven (Alice) Andersen of Des Moines, IA, James (Colleen) Andersen of Wake Forest, NC, daughter Barbara (Michael) Hussar of Rochester, NY, and sister-in-law Beverly Merritt of Des Moines, IA. She is also survived by grandchildren Diane (Doug) Preston, Russell Andersen, both of Des Moines IA and Noelle Andersen of Wake Forest, NC, great-grandchildren Roland and Lucy Preston, nieces, nephews and many friends. Patricia was born in Cedar Rapids, IA on January 23, 1930 and was raised in Center Point, IA. Patricia lived most of her adult life in Syracuse, NY and also lived in Madison, WI, Reynoldsburg, OH and Atlanta, GA. She graduated from the University of Iowa and Syracuse University. During her career, she was a School Librarian. She also was a volunteer docent at the Everson Museum of Art for over 25 years. Education was always important to her and she always encouraged her children and grandchildren to continue learning. She enjoyed art, reading, playing golf, bridge, dominos, mahjong, and doing crossword puzzles. Her family was especially important to her and she enjoyed entertaining them and preparing many meals for them. She and her husband traveled to Italy, Nova Scotia, England, Germany, France, Norway and Denmark as well as many US states. For her 80th birthday, she treated her children to a cruise to Alaska. Her favorite saying was "always do something for your community, your church and yourself". The family would like to thank the caring staff at McHarrie Life for the excellent and compassionate care she received there in assisted living and skilled nursing. They would also like to thank the thoughtful members of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 2840 Cold Springs Rd, Baldwinsville, NY. Please note: facial coverings and distancing are required per NYS guidelines.
