Obituary of Gary Christensen

Please share a memory of Gary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gary Christensen, 61, passed away Wednesday, December 9 at home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was a strong man and handled his diagnosis with dignity and grace. Gary was born in Syracuse to the late William and Mary Betty Christensen. He was a graduate of Baker High School, attended SUNY Brockport and lived in the Syracuse area his entire life. Gary served in multiple positions during his 40 year career with Wegmans Food Markets. He was an avid sports fan. Gary loved animals and especially enjoyed Thoroughbred racing. But, most of all, he loved spending time with family and friends and traveling with his loving wife. Gary is survived by his wife of 29 years, Bonnie Christensen; daughter, Renee Vogelsang; siblings, Elva (Greg) Massaro, Beth Christensen, and Mark (Luanne) Christensen; brother-in-law, Perry (Sandy) Courto; sister-in-law, Sharon (James) Smith; nieces and nephews, Gregory Massaro, Lindsey (Hernando) Nieto, Morgan Christensen, Richard (Kate) Courto, Ann (Tom Akey) Courto, Evelyn (Nick Szurgyi) Smith, Jimmy Smith, Lauren Baildon, and Kevin (Korey Westover) Baildon; and his loving Aunt Marjorie Hunter and her family. As of an act of love to our family and friends, a Celebration of Gary's Life will be determined at a later date when conditions are conducive to safe gatherings. In lieu of flowers, Gary has requested donations to the Thoroughbred Retirement Farm "Old Friends at Cabin Creek", https://oldfriendsatcabincreek.com 483 Sand Hill Rd., Greenfield Center, NY 12833 or Hospice of CNY, 990 7th North St, Liverpool, NY 13088.
