Jerry Murray
The moment Jerry entered Bessie's life, she knew her purpose was to be a Mother. She fell in love with him the minute he was placed in her arms. His Father, Bill yelled out in glee, "it's a boy!"
His Mother cherished the earlier moments of nursing, rocking him and reading him to sleep. He was a very happy baby boy and he was surrounded with love.
From a young age Jerry had a curious mind. He would love taking electronics apart, inspecting and sometimes putting them back together again. Jerry had a wisdom beyond his years. His Mother instilled him with empathy and compassion. While his Father taught him to always question things and have a good time. He had a sensitive gentle soul and was very introspective.
Jerry was loved by his parents and was a protective big brother of his little sister Grace. They spent time together playing outside, watching Spongebob Square Pants, dancing to Flaming Lips and Grateful Dead songs and baking brownies with their Dad.
Jerry loved spending time with his "Grammy", creating poetry, drawing, playing video games, and ordering chicken wings from OIP.
He Adored his Godfather, Brad in every facet of life, also known as Uncle Brad. His Aunt Patty mentored Jerry in teaching life skills, from tying his shoelaces to driving a car. Jerry looked up to his Grandfather and wanted to pursue his love of computers with a Ph.D. like him. Jerry aspired to do great things. He enjoyed riding in his Grandmother's convertible going shopping and out to eat.
In his teenage years Jerry enjoyed the music festivals and Grateful Dead concerts with his Dad and friends.
Jerry loved traveling. His last trip is fondly remembered with his girlfriend Sydney in the Adirondack Mountains. A week before Jerry died, his Mother went on a last minute nice day hiking trip to Clark's Reservation that she will hold onto as her last beautiful memory.
In his young adulthood, he returned home to the Westcott neighborhood to live with his beloved girlfriend, Sydney and his French Bull Dog Boss. He developed a taste for the finer things in life like going to Wegmans in Fayetville to buy Japanese Wagyu Steak, Fashion designer clothing, like Off White, Louis Vuitton, and Gucci to name a few.
There are so many loved ones with special memories that can't be captured on paper. But know that every single one of you was a part of Jerry's heart and is not forgotten.
If there is anything I would ask you to take from this tragic event, below is a poem Jerry wrote to me shortly after his Sister died. I felt broken and he put this poem in front of me and I knew everything would be ok.
"It's dark in this hole
All that surrounds me is sadness and frustration
It's hard to find peace in this dark hole
You just start digging and digging
Aha, I found it
I will restore joy in my heart
Although the hole gets dark
Light will come through.
Love, Jerry."
