Leo McArdell, Sr., 96, of Baldwinsville, passed away on Sunday, September 20 at Elderwood Nursing Home. He was born and raised in Liverpool and settled in Baldwinsville with the love of his life, Reba for 64 years and raised 11 children. Leo worked on the family farm and later retired from the Village of Baldwinsville in 1991. Leo loved golfing, camping, hunting, dancing, and fishing and was a member of the Sons of the American Legion. Leo had built a golf course on his property which is where he got the title "President of Leba Links (Reba & Leo). At 90 he boarded his first plane to the Bahamas with his family. He enjoyed his children, grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren. He never had a bad word about his life, he always said "I've had a wonderful life". Leo is predeceased by his wife, Reba in 2011, his daughter Patricia in 2009, his sons Joseph in 1954 and Leo Jr. in 2018 and son-in-law, Tom Neave in 2020. Leo is survived by 5 daughters, Bonita (Gary) Garrison of B'ville, Kathleen Treasure of B'ville, Meri (Bill) Asmus of Liverpool, Colleen Neave of B'ville, and Florence (Bill) Leier of B'ville; 3 sons, William, Francis, and Gregory (Lorie) McArdell all of B'ville; 2 sisters Grace Corbin and Kay Mussi; 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many great people who loved and will cherish his sense of humor and kindness will be in our hearts forever. Calling hours are 4-7 pm Friday, September 25 at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St, Baldwinsville. A graveside service will be 11 am Saturday, September 26 at Pine Plains Cemetery, 8686 Henry Clay Blvd, Clay. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion in Baldwinsville, 8529 Smokey Hollow Rd, Baldwinsville, NY 13027. We would love to thank the staff at Elderwood Nursing Home for all they did to make our dad's last year of his life memorable. In honor of Leo, please perform a random act of kindness as he would always say "It doesn't cost anything to be nice".
