Obituary of Mary Millicent Hastings

Mary Mil Hastings, 85, passed away Sunday, August 2, at St. Camillus Health and Rehab Center. She was born in Syracuse NY to Gus and Florence Hopkins and lived in the area most of her life. Mary Mil was one of 10 children and had a twin sister, Mary Martha. She graduated from Convent School in 1952 and LeMoyne College in 1956. As an Alumni of LeMoyne College, she served on the President's Board. Mary Mil worked for Onondaga County Dept. of Social Services for 34 years and was the Supervisor for Adult and Family Services. She was a Lector and Eucharistic Minister for St. Augustine's Church from 1972-1984 and was a communicant of Holy Cross Church. Mary Mil and her husband of 47 years, Robert, enjoyed traveling to Cazenovia Lake and Old Forge. They were snowbirds and spent 27 years of retirement in Naples and Estero Fl. Mary Mil and Bob loved watching Jeopardy together every evening. Mary Mil even tried out as a contestant. She also enjoyed playing cards and swimming

Mary Mil is predeceased by her children Kathleen Hastings and Debra Head, and siblings, Joseph, Christopher, Pierre, Patri, Genevieve, Rosalind, Adelaide, and Mary Martha.

Mary Mil is survived by her husband, Robert Hastings; daughters, Lorraine Willoughby and Karen Dunn; sister, Kathleen Elliott; 6 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are 5-7 pm Friday, August 7 at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St, Baldwinsville. A Private Service will immediately follow.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to LeMoyne College, 1419 Salt Springs Rd, Syracuse, NY 13214.
