Obituary of Teresa P. Schiro

Please share a memory of Teresa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that we, her family, announce that Teresa Schiro, 98, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2020. Born April 9, 1922, Teresa had a full life, beginning in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She soon moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan, with her husband, Anthony and infant daughter while Anthony attended University of Michigan. She lived in Baldwinsville most of her life, where she was active in Girl Scouts and 4-H, and many other activities with her daughters. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church for 62 years where she was a member of the Rosary/Altar Society and Human Development committee, chairing many bake sales for those organizations and for the Lenten Fish Fry at church. She was a charter participant for the community Lenten Luncheons, held at the United Methodist Church, for many years. She was very proud of teaching religious education for over 20 years and bringing the Miraculous Medal Novena back to St. Mary's, as she was very devoted to the Blessed Mother. Her favorite pastime, however, was being Gramma to her 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren who gave her such joy. Before her marriage, Teresa worked at the Bridgeport Brass Co. where she did "war work" and at Columbia Records in Bridgeport. When she was 95, she and dad flew to their grandson's wedding in Virginia, accompanied by her aide, Lydia. She and dad would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on October 7 this year. We would like to thank all the gals who have taken care of mom at home since her heart surgery almost 11 years ago: Lydia, Nikki, Patty and Sandy, who currently care for dad, and so many others (you know who you are) you were all a gift, not only to mom and dad, but to our family. We'd also like to thank the staff at Syracuse Home, especially Heather, Morgan, Nancy, Marlo and Tina who gave her much love and made sure she was involved in all activities. Teresa is survived by her husband, Anthony. Daughter Christine (James) Kimak and their children Stacey (John) Cloutier, Dianne (Stephen) Phelan, David Kimak, Matthew (Marie) Kimak, and Stephen (Sarah) Kimak and Daughter Carol Anne Schiro, her husband, Michael Pellegrino and their children Jeremy, Emily and Katie Pellegrino. She was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren: Charles, Sophia and Jude Phelan, Jessica Cloutier, Aidan Gillis, and Genevieve Kimak. She is also survived by her brother John Silva, of California and a host of nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Monday, July 13 from 4-7 at Falardeau Funeral Home. Due to social distancing difficulties, a private Mass of Christian burial will be at St. Mary's Church on Tuesday, July 14. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Activity Department at Syracuse Home at McHarrie Place.
