Obituary of Pearl Van Der Water

Pearl Leona (Straight) VanDerWater of Baldwinsville passed away at 97 on May 29, 2020 following a courageous fight with Covid-19. She was born to parents Arthur and Ellen Straight in Pittsford, NY where she graduated from High School. In 1946 she married her husband Verne. They moved to Baldwinsville, NY in 1947. Pearl was a very devoted, supportive, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who enjoyed life and people to the fullest. She liked playing the piano, cards, bingo, camping, and spending Winters in Florida with her son Larry. No one enjoyed Halloween more! She was a great listener and a "giver "in life with a big heart, whose door was always open and the coffee pot on for anyone who needed a friend. She drove until she was 93 and served as the family historian, who passionately coordinated the fun filled VanDerWater family reunions for 50 years. God shall receive a "special" Angel who was loved by all those whose lives she touched. Pearl was predeceased by her husband, Verne VanDerWater, who passed in 1991; her sisters Olive Straight (Pittsford) and Doris Hegeman (Pittsford); her brothers Bob Straight (FL) and Howard Straight (Henrietta) She is survived by her sons, Larry and Ed (Darlene) VanDerWater; grandchildren Rod (Kristen) and Scott (Wendy) VanDerWater; and great-grandchildren Casey, Grey, Jared and Scott Jr. Our family and she appreciate and remain thankful for the compassion, kindness, care, and love shown her these past eighteen months by the dedicated and hard working staff at The Centers at St Camillus, who genuinely became family to her. Arrangements are entrusted to Falardeau Funeral Home in Baldwinsville, NY. Pearl will be united with her husband Verne at the Riverview Cemetery in Baldwinsville. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, funeral services will be posted and held at a later date.
