Obituary of Nancy Agnes Hermans

Please share a memory of Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Nancy A. Hermans, 92, of Baldwinsville passed away Sunday April 19th at Iroquois Nursing Home. She was born April 15, 1928 on Cornwall Island, Ontario. She lived in Baldwinsville for 60 years. Nancy is a proud member of the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe. At age 9 she was sent to the Indian Residential School, St. Joseph's School for Girls, in Spanish, Ontario, where she not only survived for 9 years as #20, but she thrived. Her experience there shaped her life, but not in the way they had intended. It gave her a profoundly deep faith, and in keeping with her amazingly positive outlook, she often reminisced about her friends there, her love of singing in the Christmas choir, and the life skills she learned such as sewing, knitting, and crocheting. Nancy's greatest love was her family. She also enjoyed planting her flowers each spring, playing cards, her cats, and BINGO. Nancy was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband Charles E. Hermans and daughter Ruth Cardinale of Long Beach, CA. Nancy is survived by her children Georgette (Robert) Gould of Oswego, Jeannette (Craig) Flowers of Liverpool, Charles Hermans Jr of Chistochina, AK and Cryss (Robert) Rigdon of CA; along with her much loved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends. Given these difficult times, services this Wednesday, April 22nd are limited to immediate family. A celebration of her life will be planned for this summer. Contributions can be made in her honor to HumaneCNY, Liverpool, NY to continue her mission of feeding and loving the many stray cats.
