Richard Mayne, DMD, 80, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2020, at Syracuse Home. Born in Buffalo, NY he grew up in Hannibal, Missouri and Hudson, New York. He graduated from Lafayette College where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta; and the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. After proudly serving in the Army at Fort Knox, he moved to the Syracuse area, where he practiced general dentistry in Bridgeport. He was a member of the St Joseph's Hospital medical staff and served in the Dental Office and Residency Program for over 40 years, retiring as the Residency Director. He was predeceased by his wife, Judith Ferrara. He and Judy resided in Baldwinsville, where they raised their four daughters. He was a member of many local, state and national dental committees, societies and organizations including the Pierre Fauchard Academy. He is survived by his wife Barbara (Lane); daughters Allison (Glenn) Peters of New York City, Jennifer (Charley) Hoppe of Arlington, Virginia, Kelly (Terry) Peppy of Windermere, Florida, Ashley (Jourdan) Punay of Oviedo, Florida; stepsons Scott (Meghan) Channels, of Camillus, and Christopher (Trista) Channels of Camillus; grandchildren Kannon Peters, Luke and Lila Hoppe, Macy and Brady Rodriguez, Sarah, Molly, Katelyn, Zachary and Etta Channels; and sister Ellen (Rhodes) Messick of Southport, NC. Per Dick's request, there will be no funeral. A Celebration of Dick's life will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Joseph's Hospital Health Foundation, c/o St Joseph's Dental Program, 973 James Street, Suite 250, Syracuse, NY. 13203
