Obituary of Shirley E. Stock

Please share a memory of Shirley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Shirley Ernestine Stock (Carmer) died peacefully at her home on February 6th, 2020, surrounded by her loving children and family. Shirley was born in Tampa, Florida to Marjorie Irene Simons on March 2, 1935. She was raised in Jordan by her mother and father, Clifford W. Carmer. Shirley graduated from Jordan High School in 1952 and began work at the Jordan Wire Mill. It was during her time at Jordan Wire Mill that she met her husband. Shirley married Gerald "Jake" Stock on May 2, 1954. They moved to Plainville where they raised their four children. Shirley was a longstanding and active member of the Plainville Christian Church for more than 50 years. She loved her church family and relished the days when her children and grandchildren attended services with her. She served faithfully on several church committees and volunteered as treasurer for more than 18 years. After raising her children, Shirley worked for 23 years at the Plainville Post Office. One of Shirley's favorite past times was baking and canning. Her summers were spent canning jams and jellies and making her famous zucchini bread. If she wasn't in her kitchen it was good bet she was outside tending to her flower gardens. No one ever left Shirley's house without a full stomach and a jar of jam or a baked good for the road! Shirley was a selfless, faithful woman of few words who was fiercely loyal and dedicated to her family. One of her greatest joys was being a mother and grandmother and she considered herself blessed to experience life as a great-grandmother. Her devotion to her family was unparalleled and she has left a void that can never be filled. Shirley was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Jake Stock. She is survived by her son, Michael Stock (Christy), her son Mark Stock (Jackie), her daughter Gerry Briggs (Scott) and her daughter Carrie Bartkowiak (Matt). Shirley was the proud grandmother of 10 grandchildren; Sherry Faye (Brian), Sara Dockham (Greg), Casey Stock (Becca) Tyler Stock (Becca), Jessica and Adam Briggs, Madison, Sydnie, Natalie and Caleb Bartkowiak. She is also survived by her 11 great grandchildren; Kendra, Sam, Jacob and Sophia Stock, Greg, Maci and Ruby Dockham, Davin and Asher Faye and Cohen and Autumn Stock. Shirley is also survived by her beloved sister Gertrude Stern and countless nieces, nephews and extended family whom she loved dearly. Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 14th from 4pm to 7pm at Falardeau Funeral Home in Baldwinsville. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 11:00am at Plainville Christian Church.
