Obituary of John A. Robinson

John A. Robinson, 65, of Baldwinsville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 27, at Upstate Hospital. John was born in Syracuse, son of the late John A. Robinson and late Audrey (Miller) Robinson Higby. John earned an Associate Degree from Jefferson Community College, a BA from Oswego State University, and an MBA from Syracuse University. Following a career as a Logistics Specialist for General Electric and Lockheed Martin, John continued his professional career as Vice President of Operations at Intersurgical, Inc. until retiring in 2011. Following retirement, John kept active by volunteering a PAC-B TV and by working part-time for POST at the Nine Mile power plant. John's favorite pastimes included fishing on New York's lakes, streams, and rivers. Known as "Bud" to his fishing buddies, he loved organizing their annual "Salmon River Revival" fishing trip for the past 40 years. John also enjoyed bowling and golfing, both on leagues and with his wife Cheryl and friends. Known for his creative writing abilities, he made his friends laugh when reading his (largely fictionalized) exploits of fishing trips and bowling seasons. A lover of fine food, John enjoyed hosting fondue dinners and wine tastings, along with creating the family's Thanksgiving Day dressing and delicious seafood stews for special occasions. John is survived by his wife of 33 years, Cheryl (Brault) Robinson, son John Andrew Robinson, sisters Michelle Mazur and Jackie (Robert) Farrell, and brother Douglas (Cheri) Robinson, along with several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held in Baldwinsville at St. Augustine's Parish on Thursday, October 31, from 11:30 – 1:00, followed by a 1:00 Mass celebrating John's life and a reception for family and friends.
