Obituary of Lisa Kay Black

Lisa Kay Black (Bendo), 55, of Syracuse, New York, died on September 15, 2019, in Jacksonville, Florida, surrounded by her loving family, after a brief and sudden illness.

She is survived by her sons, Jesse (Jenna), Max and Cody (Mollie) Black, granddaughter, Gracie Black, father, W. James Bendo Jr. (Sara), brother, W. James Bendo III (Sherry), sister, Lauren Angelone (Gabriel), nephews, Billy and Tyler Bendo and nieces, Nina Bendo, Sofia and Harlow Angelone. She was predeceased by her mother, Katherine Bendo in 2012. She continues to be loved by many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, her former husband, Harry Black, and also leaves behind her beloved cats, Wolfie and Shelby.

Lisa was born in Jamestown, New York, but spent most of her life in the Syracuse area. She attended Fayetteville-Manlius High School with the class of 1982 and volunteered many years for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. She recently relocated to Jacksonville, where she lived and worked with an incredible and outstanding staff at TJ Maxx in Mandarin.

Lisa will always be remembered for her radiant smile, bubbly sense of humor, infectious laugh and enormous heart. She cared fiercely for her family and friends and also had a reputation as an animal lover. She looked after dozens of stray cats and often carried food in her purse for any she encountered during her day.

Lisa led a unique life that has left a hole in the hearts of anyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She was beautiful on the inside and out and will be deeply missed.

Calling hours will occur at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville, on Friday, September 20, 2019 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Church in Baldwinsville on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 11:00am, immediately followed by burial at Riverview Cemetery in Baldwinsville. A luncheon will take place at St. Mary's upon the conclusion of burial.

A memorial for her family and friends in Jacksonville, FL will be arranged at a later time.
