Obituary of Helen Council

Helen Council, 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Francis House in Syracuse, NY. She was born on March 17, 1926 in Syracuse, NY to Ernst and Gertrude Huebner. Helen graduated from Minoa High School, and Syracuse Secretarial School, and married her High School sweetheart Edwin "Bruce" Maynard in 1946 (deceased 1965). She met Robert "Bob" Council while working at Nationwide Insurance and they married in 1967. Helen and Bob relocated to Columbus, Ohio where Helen worked at the Nationwide Corporate Office as an Executive Secretary for 22 years. After retirement Helen enjoyed volunteering and spending time with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; Ernst and Gertrude Huebner, her husbands; Bruce Maynard (father of her children) and Bob Council. She is survived by her sons; Erick Maynard (Stephanie), Mark Maynard (Colleen), grandchildren; Bruce Maynard, Allison McLoughlin, Brooke Linz, and Heather Wunder, several great-grandchildren, step-children; Steve Council, Brenda Dresser and their children, as well as many nieces, nephews, and her 99 year old brother Paul "Puggy" Huebner. A private memorial service will be held. Charitable donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, TN or Francis House, Syracuse, NY.
