Theresa C. DeShane, formally of Jordan, NY, passed away peacefully on August 20th, 2019 at the Syracuse Home McHarrie Place in Baldwinsville, NY. She was born on April 11, 1932 in Syracuse to Charles and Erma VanSlyke and is predeceased by her husband Clarence Fredrick DeShane, brothers Henry and Charles VanSlyke and sister Alice Baker. As a young girl Theresa worked at Syracuse General Hospital and as a young mother at Felix Poultry Farm. When her children were grown she worked as a group leader at Welch Allyn's Fiber Optic Division until her retirement. She enjoyed cooking for large numbers of her extended family at the family's camp on the Seneca river. Theresa was the caregiver that her family always looked to in the time of need. She loved long drives in the country and at one time on the back of her husband's Indian motorcycle. Her favorite place to be was the family camp. She is survived by her son Steven (Ann) DeShane, daughter Susanne (David) Younis, grandchildren Brian (Pamela) DeShane, Kelly (Larry) Ochsner, Jason (Diana) Warner, Jeffrey (Malia) Warner, David (Erika) Younis, Melissa (Mathew) Taubman, fifteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held 4-6 pm Friday, August 23 at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St, Baldwinsville. Burial will be private at the Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery in Warners, NY. Her family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the staff of Syracuse Home at McHarrie Place, especially Unit Two where Theresa has spent five and one half years, for their compassionate and loving attention and care she received. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution can be made in her honor to McHarrie Life (Activities Dept.) 7740 Meigs Road, Baldwinsville, NY 13027.
