To the Reeves family, and especially Tim, Bruce, Mark, Andy and Brian . . . so very sorry for your loss. I couldn't have asked for a better "first boss" . . . from the quarter he gave me the first time I helped pick up potatoes in the field next to our house (I was so young that I thought it was a nickel), to watching him test drive the 1206 and praying that he would pick that one over those other 2nd rate tractors, to the time he had to explain to me that I could not go so hard on my fellow workers when he put me in charge of a crew, to trusting me with every truck and tractor on the farm, to the 4 am drives to the Farmer's Market in Syracuse, to the 70+ hours work weeks, and having been given the opportunity to compete with his boys (now I know where they got it from) in every way imaginable, whether it was seeing how many hot peppers you could eat, seeing who could back a box truck up closest and squarest to a loading dock without touching it and, of course, hoops in the barn and in the summer leagues (the memories are endless) . . . but, most importantly, for being a great role model during my first working years . . . I think I can count on one hand the number of times I saw him get mad and I don't think I've ever met a man that did a better job of leading by example . . . hard work was never a burden (well hoeing those endless rows of peppers was) but rather something that you looked forward to accomplishing and actually enjoying every day . . . I've always taken great pride in my ability to outwork practically anybody at any job I've ever held and that is certainly the case in the law and I learned that from Cecil Reeves . . . the lessons one can learn from a farmer . . . he was the 2nd one in my life, the first one being my grandfather Sam . . . every kid should be so lucky as to have had two farmers to grow up with . . .

Jake just ran in to Cec at Tassone's within the last couple of weeks. Joanie summoned Jake to come to the table, per her Father's request, and Jake obliged. Cec wanted to say that he thought of Jake every day . . . just because Jake had installed a walk in shower to accommodate Dot, which Cec was now using. When initially requested, others said it couldn't be done considering the layout of the bathroom and the size of the unit. Of course, Jake wouldn't tell Cec how he was going to do it, but by the time he got home from working on the farm that day, it was a done deal! Of course, when they last spoke, there was some needling that occurred. Neither would have it any other way! May you all find comfort in the many memories you have. Mr. Reeves will be remembered for the innovative and successful man he was.
Prayers to all.
Jake & Michele
